Physiotherapy

It will move you

What Is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a rehabilitation profession that focuses on maximizing function and restoring your physical abilities, especially after injuries and surgery. Because physiotherapists are educated in anatomy, natural pain management, the nervous system, lungs and cardiovascular system, they bring a well rounded perspective to getting you back to functioning and moving your best.

Physiotherapists use their knowledge and their hands to help get your body moving using stretches, strengthening, joint mobilization, massage, and electrical therapy for managing pain, injury recovery, inflammation and arthritis. To speed up recovery, they will educate you on home exercises, lifestyle changes, how to improve posture, activities of daily living or sports, and help you get a more comfortable sleep. They understand how one area can affect other areas, and how compensations for injuries can delay recovery. In fact, compensation for old injuries that did not heal well, is one of the number one reasons people hurt themselves.

Our physiotherapist, Mary Lynne Jones, PT has focused learning and extensive experience treating many conditions in the following areas:

- Pain or dysfunction in any joint or muscle, including TMJ (jaw)

- Children's health

- Motor Vehicle Accident recovery

- Healthy Ageing

- DNS - Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization

- Craniosacral Therapy

- Concussion management and recovery

- Sports Injury or enhancement

- Neurological conditions

- Sensory integration and brain neuroplasticity

Our physiotherapist works together with our chiropractor and massage therapists to ensure your unique needs are met in your health journey. This is an important lifelong journey and we are privileged to be part of YOUR team.

Joint mobilization is a specific area of study that is like a mechanic for the human body. It involves evaluating which way a joint is not moving and then applying specific forces or stretches to restore joint mobility, freeing up muscles to do their job. It relieves pain, muscle tension and restores mobility and function. This restoration of normal joint mechanics also helps nourish joint cartilage to help prevent arthritis.
