Motor Vehicle Injuries

Pain Changes Everything. We Can Help.

Your auto insurance covers you for a minimum of 10 chiropractic treatments for minor injuries under the Alberta Diagnostic Treatment Protocols Regulation.

Chiropractic treatment for minor injuries is billed directly to your insurance company. You do not have to submit receipts for reimbursement.

Make sure you tell your chiropractor that you were injured in a car accident so they will fill out the forms to have your treatment costs covered.

In addition, every Albertan is entitled to $1000 of chiropractic care coverage for more serious injuries (under Section B), but access to these benefits varies based on your auto policy.

Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) & Whiplash Care

If you’ve recently been in a motor vehicle accident, you don’t have to navigate recovery alone. At Midnapore Health, our experienced physiotherapists and chiropractors have helped hundreds of clients recover from MVA-related injuries — whether your symptoms are new or longstanding.

We understand that the days following an accident can feel overwhelming. Our team is here to help you heal physically and support you through the paperwork, insurance process, and every step of your recovery.

Your Care Is Covered

In Alberta, treatment for injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident (such as whiplash, neck or back pain, or joint stiffness) is covered by your car insurance.

To ensure your coverage, it’s important to be assessed by a physiotherapist or chiropractor within 10 days of the accident. Our administrative team will guide you through completing and submitting all necessary forms — including the AB-1 form and other required documentation — so you can focus on your recovery, not the paperwork.

What to Expect at Your First Visit

Your initial appointment is designed to give you the best possible start in your recovery journey. During your first visit, you can expect:

A comprehensive assessment and detailed history of your accident and symptoms

A hands-on examination to identify the areas of injury and restriction

Immediate treatment to help reduce pain and inflammation, which may include manual therapy and pain-relieving electrical stimulation

Ice packs and at-home care instructions to support your comfort between visits

Your first visit usually lasts about one hour, and treatment begins right away to help you start feeling relief as soon as possible.

After Your First Visit

Your practitioner will review your findings with you at your next appointment and discuss a personalized treatment plan. You’re welcome to bring a spouse or support person to this visit to help you absorb the information and better support your recovery.

You’ll also receive several helpful resources by email or text, including:

Educational handouts on managing pain and supporting recovery at home

Simple exercises to begin restoring movement and function

Questionnaires that help us track your progress and tailor your treatment

We recommend creating a folder (digital or physical) to keep these emails and forms organized for easy reference.

Ongoing Recovery & Rehabilitation

Healing from whiplash and MVA-related injuries can take time, and progress often happens in stages. Early care focuses on reducing pain and restoring comfort. As you improve, we’ll transition into strengthening and rehabilitation to help your body regain flexibility, resilience, and long-term stability.

Our goal isn’t just to help you feel better — it’s to help you return to full function and prevent future issues. Consistent, professional care plays an important role in ensuring your recovery is complete and lasting.
