Kids Need Care Too!

Children may experience headaches, neck and back pain, sore shoulders, or leg discomfort due to factors such as posture, muscle imbalances, foot mechanics, or sports-related strain.

Our practitioners have experience working with children of all ages, from infants to teens, and provide individualized assessments and care. It is our opinion that kids should be checked at least twice a year. Children should be checked particularly before their puberty growth spurt to screen for scoliosis, which can worsen during the growth phase. For girls this is age 8-12 and boys it is age 9-14.

For young athletes, treatment may include therapeutic exercises and movement strategies designed to support flexibility, reduce the risk of injury, and enhance performance. We also offer guidance for parents seeking conservative, non-drug, and non-surgical options to support their child's musculoskeletal health and overall well-being.

Chiropractic for kids

Chiropractors are neuromuscular specialists. Like a dentist who checks teeth and teaches proper dental hygiene, your doctor of chiropractic checks the nerves, muscles and bones for normal development, function, movement, alignment and posture.

One of our primary goals in chiropractic is to teach children proper spinal care and overall good health habits. This way we can reduce and hopefully prevent many of the common problems in our muscles, bones and joints that we see later in adult life.

Posture Analysis is performed on every child

Good posture is more than good looks. It means better breathing, improved cardiovascular function, less problems with headaches, back pain and irritability.

Reasons for poor posture in children today

- Increased screen time.

- Heavy backpacks

- Increased time sitting.

- Not enough physical activity.

- Joint restriction in the spine.

- Scoliosis.

- Stress/ muscle tension.

The number one cause of physical disability worldwide is back pain. Prevention is key!

Physiotherapy for kids

Many children suffer with the same aches and pains as adults.

Many children and babies have mild structural and neurological problems that can affect their movement. This can sometimes lead to affecting their ability to focus and learn optimally.

Your child can be assessed at any age, even as a newborn or a few months old. Early signs of problems should be evaluated as young as possible. If your child seems to be moving slower in development than their peers, it can be a cause for concern. Many parents are told that their child will catch up but this wait and see approach can lead to more permanent hard-wiring of the nervous system in poor movement patterns.

Treatment programs for children combine orthopedic techniques, craniosacral therapy (explained below) and DNS (dynamic neuromuscular stabilization a postural strengthening program).

Pediatric conditions treated

  • Poor posture

  • Scoliosis

  • Orthopedic problems or pain in the spine or joints

  • Delays in reaching baby milestones

  • ADD / ADHD

  • Concussions

  • Neurological conditions such as Cerebral palsy, Stroke, Poor coordination, Sensory processing problems

Pediatric Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, hands-on treatment that may help babies and children by reducing tension in the body and supporting the nervous system. Many families seek this therapy to encourage relaxation, improve comfort, and promote healthy sleep, digestion, and overall well-being.

It may be beneficial for concerns such as colic, breastfeeding and latch difficulties, sleep challenges, flat head syndrome (plagiocephaly), developmental delays, and recovery from birth-related or minor physical stresses. For older children, craniosacral therapy may also help support posture, coordination, scoliosis, flat feet, and other movement-related concerns, helping them feel and function at their best.

Massage for kids

Massage therapy can be a gentle and effective way to support the health and well-being of infants and children.

Massage therapy may help promote relaxation, improve sleep, ease muscle tension, support healthy movement, and provide comfort for growing bodies. Whether your child is experiencing discomfort, recovering from physical activity, or simply in need of a calming treatment.

Our massage therapist, Brenda has specialized training in infant and pediatric massage, allowing her to provide safe, age-appropriate care tailored to each child's unique needs. Adele and Barbara also treat young people.
